He didn’t create the famous swoosh, but Michael Shea has worked on and off with Nike since 1996, including being a creative director for the Nike Innovation Kitchen, where latest product designs are conceived. He has also worked within his own design studio and with Levi Strauss & Co.
Shea graduated from Chico State in 1984 with a degree in information and communication studies, and a minor in art and industrial technology. He then went on to receive his master’s degree in design from North Carolina State University.
Kasey Barnett dominates on the track, in the classroom, and as a volunteer. She graduated from Chico High in 2010 and went on to be a part of Chico State’s track and field team. The senior recreation administration major volunteers as a gymnastics coach while working to support herself.
Barnett, a pole vaulter and long jumper, was also named the 2013 California Collegiate Athletic Association Field Event Athlete of the Year. And she has done it all while maintaining a high grade-point average.
